‘Tis the season to be jolly!

The Kidrobot pirate store in Chicago seems to have opened some debate but when you really look into the new store you’ve got to say it looks good for both companies. It will pull in so many more customers and I don’t think that anyone who goes to one won’t be paying a visit to the other. Rotofugi basically supported this point of view when we got in contact with them saying the new Kidrobot store would “be helping to raise the profile of designer toys in Chicago”, that they were “proud to stock their products” and summed it up as being “all good”.

So if you’re in or near Chicago this holiday season then pay a visit to both stores and help them out. The goodwill cheer of the season is starting to attack me already!

Happy holidays! (get used to hearing that!)

Love in, Hate out

Wow, this is some seriously awesome breaking news for us! In a follow up to our last post Kidrobot has posted on their forums saying how great Rotofugi is. Got to admit were more than a little bummed out by this, we were hoping for some beef to develop, maybe a fight “round back”.

However to combat our bummed out demeanour they say that when they close out the Chicago store it will set sail for another city. Seems pretty big and definitely a move I don’t think anyone was really expecting. This site was created because vinyl was so hard to find and Kidrobot really seems to have realised that problem. Hopefully they will take it to places that are 6 million light years from their nearest store. So fingers crossed everyone!

YARR!

In the hard-hitting news world of locations where you can buy vinyl, big news doesn’t come along often. On that note, we were all over the new Kidrobot Pirate store (and this) when we found out about it. Seems like some pretty big news what with Rotofugi so close by.

So some fat ass details for you fact hogs, located at 1573 N. Milwaukee Avenue, the store will be opening on October 4th 2008, will have a floor covering 1,100 sq. feet and will be staying open all the way through the holiday season.

The pop-up store nature of this seems way to big for them not to have spoken it through with Rotofugi first, I’m guessing they believe it will bring in more customers to both locations, why visit one store when you can visit two!

We’ll just have to see how the story develops and if Rotofugi actually come out and say anything about this. For now though were off to drink some rum and cut out our very own eye-patch!

Grab your speedos, were going surfing!

The online stores section is up and running… well jogging anyway! There’s plenty more that we want to do with this section but we really wanted to just get it out there and see how well it would be used. If there are any broken links that you want fixed then please let us know.

Unfortunately, you can’t add directly into this part of the site like you can with the map, this is something that were working on. So if you would like a shop you know or own added to the list then either leave it in the comments section or send us an email and we will get it sorted.

Once again its not totally how we want it and if there are any suggestions for improvements then let us know. Other than that enjoy and keep adding shops to the map!

Busting out a new section… well soon anyway!

The eagle eyed among you may have noticed a new section up at the top, Online Stores. The map is excellent for your local stores (which we really recommend you support) but there is also a huge number of really awesome places online for those of you who are a little underserved in the shop stakes. Therefore were asking all of the online stores and people that use them to get in contact with us via email so we can start populating a list. Send in all the information you can (obviously the minimum we need is web address and which country its based in) and were try to get a pretty robust list up soon.

For all the stores that are already on the map, you tell us, would you like the web address added to both the location and the list or just one of these?

locatevinyl is a go!

Hello and welcome to locatevinyl,

This website was built on the back of seeing so many people asking where they could actually track down local shops selling vinyl toys. Previously this was only possible from being lucky or hours spent trawling the Internet.

Now, with locatevinyl, there’s a simple worldwide map created through mass collaboration, allowing anyone to add and find information about shops near them.

To be part of this amazing new project simply click on the map page above to get started!

We really feel that this has the potential to help so many people get into the world of vinyl toys and track down some really awesome stores. It’s pretty blank at the moment so what are you waiting for, go add some!

If you’ve got any questions then just hit the contact us button or post in the comments and we’ll do our best to answer them!
